Argentina EU-listed: no titre test and the SENASA certificate process
EU Regulation 576/2013 lists Argentina as a recognised third country for pet movement. Argentine pets entering Italy need only a valid ISO microchip, a current rabies vaccination (21-day wait after a primary course), and the SENASA-endorsed EU-format health certificate. No titre test, no 3-month wait. Source: food.ec.europa.eu, 2026.
SENASA (Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria) is Argentina’s official food and veterinary authority. A SENASA-registered official vet issues the EU-format health certificate within 10 days of travel; SENASA endorses it before departure. Allow a few working days for the endorsement step and plan accordingly within the 10-day certificate validity window.
Routing from Buenos Aires to Rome or Milan and Italy's breed law
There is no direct cargo service from Buenos Aires Ezeiza (EZE) to Rome Fiumicino (FCO) or Milan Malpensa (MXP). Aerolineas Argentinas and Iberia both connect EZE to Madrid (MAD), which has onward connections to Italian airports. Air France via Paris CDG provides a further option. Book four to six weeks ahead; live animal space on transatlantic routes fills quickly.
Italy removed its national breed-specific legislation in 2009. Italian Ministry of Health vets carry out a documentary inspection at FCO or MXP on arrival, but no breed classification is applied. For Argentine families with breeds that face restrictions elsewhere in Europe, Italy is a straightforward destination.
