Critical points
The 90-day wait starts from the blood draw date, not from the result date. Ensure you have the actual blood draw date recorded accurately.
No EU-approved titre test laboratory is likely in Armenia. Blood must be shipped internationally. Plan the cold-chain shipping with your vet before drawing the blood.
Microchip must come before the vaccination. Post-vaccination microchipping invalidates the vaccination for EU purposes.
Turkish Airlines and Gulf carriers apply summer temperature embargoes. Plan travel for spring or autumn.
Approved carriers on this route

| Emirates | Via Dubai (DXB). EVN to DXB then DXB to LIS. Emirates SkyCargo handles live animals. A longer routing than Turkish Airlines but with strong cargo infrastructure. Gulf summer temperature embargoes apply. | Cargo Only |
| Qatar Airways | Via Doha (DOH). EVN to DOH then DOH to LIS. Qatar Cargo is reliable on Caucasus-to-Europe corridors. Temperature embargoes apply during Gulf summer. | Cargo Only |

Portugal's EU entry requirements for Armenian pets
Portugal is an EU member state. Armenia is not on the EU’s approved country list under Regulation 576/2013. Every pet from Armenia going to Portugal must follow the full unlisted country procedure.
The sequence is fixed: microchip implanted before vaccination, rabies vaccination, FAVN titre test blood draw at least 30 days after vaccination, result of at least 0.5 IU/ml at an EU-approved laboratory, then a 90-day wait from the blood draw date before Portugal entry.
DGAV is Portugal’s competent authority and conducts inspections at Lisbon Airport (LIS) cargo terminal. The EU health certificate endorsed by SSFS must accompany the pet and be valid on arrival.
Finding an EU-approved laboratory from Armenia
There is likely no EU-approved FAVN titre test laboratory in Armenia. Your vet in Yerevan must draw the blood correctly (using EDTA tubes, stored cold) and ship it to an approved laboratory outside Armenia. Common destination labs include facilities in Germany, Georgia, and Turkey.
The sample must arrive at the lab in acceptable condition. Your vet needs experience with international blood sample shipping. The laboratory receiving the sample must confirm it accepts international samples before you proceed.
Factor two to four weeks for sample transit and result return on top of the 90-day wait. The 90-day clock runs from the draw date regardless of when results arrive.
Cargo from Yerevan to Lisbon
Turkish Airlines via Istanbul (IST) is the main cargo option for Yerevan (EVN) to Lisbon (LIS). Daily flights on both segments make this a reliable routing. Turkish Airlines Cargo has established live animal handling at EVN and at IST.
Emirates via Dubai and Qatar Airways via Doha are alternatives if Turkish Airlines dates do not work. Both extend the journey time significantly but have strong cargo infrastructure.
Lisbon Airport (LIS) is Portugal’s main international hub. DGAV veterinary inspection takes place at the cargo terminal after the pet’s arrival. Ensure your IPATA agent or handling agent at LIS is briefed on the documentation requirements in advance.
