FAVN titre test and 3-month wait: the Colombia-to-EU process
Colombia is classified as a non-listed third country under EU Regulation 576/2013. Your pet must have a FAVN titre test result of at least 0.5 IU/ml from an EU-approved laboratory. A 3-month waiting period then runs from the blood sampling date. Source: food.ec.europa.eu, 2026.
ICA (Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario) endorses the EU-format health certificate. An ICA-registered official vet issues it within 10 days of travel; ICA endorses it before departure. Allow five months from starting the process to departure.
Air France direct from Bogota and France breed check
Air France Cargo operates direct from Bogota El Dorado (BOG) to Paris CDG and accepts live animals. The direct connection avoids a European hub transfer. CDG is where French customs carries out the arrival inspection.
France’s Category 1 classification covers Pit Bull type dogs without official LOF or FCI breed registration. These cannot be imported. Category 2 (Rottweiler, American Staffordshire with pedigree) can enter with restrictions. For most breeds common in Colombia, no breed restriction applies.
