Pet Transport from Indonesia to the UK: 2026 Process
Moving a pet from Indonesia to the UK is one of the longer preparation processes among Southeast Asian routes. Indonesia is an unlisted country in the UK Pet Travel Scheme, so a titre test and three-month wait are required. Combined with the logistics of …

What this route typically costs
Critical points
The three-month wait after the titre test is non-negotiable. Start five months before your planned departure at minimum.
Bali has a documented rabies history. If your pet has spent time in Bali, ensure the vaccination and titre test history is clearly documented. UK authorities may have additional questions.
Indonesia-to-UK pet moves typically route via Singapore or Dubai. Both are well-established cargo hubs for live animals, but the additional transit point adds complexity. Use an experienced pet transport agent.
The new AHC template is required from October 2026. Ensure the OV in Indonesia is using the correct template.
Approved carriers for this route
Not all airlines accept live animals. We book only with carriers that handle live animal cargo correctly.
Indonesia is unlisted: what that means for the process
Great Britain’s Pet Travel Scheme divides countries into listed and unlisted. Indonesia is not on the listed country list, meaning pets from Indonesia must go through the unlisted country process before entering the UK.
This requires: microchip before vaccination, rabies vaccination, a blood draw at least 30 days after vaccination at an APHA-approved laboratory (confirming at least 0.5 IU/ml), and a three-month waiting period from the date of the satisfactory blood draw. The total minimum preparation time from day one is roughly five months.
One aspect that surprises owners: the three-month wait runs from the blood draw date, not from when the results arrive. Send the sample, wait for the result, but the clock started on the day the blood was taken.
The Bali consideration
Bali has had periods of documented canine rabies. If your pet has lived in or visited Bali, ensure the vaccination and titre test record is complete and clearly documents where the animal was living at the time of vaccination and blood draw. UK import authority inspection officers may ask additional questions about an animal’s residential history in a rabies-affected area.
This does not block UK entry for well-documented pets, but it makes thorough record-keeping more important. Keep all veterinary records, vaccination certificates, and titre test reports in chronological order.
Routing via Singapore or Dubai
There are no direct cargo services from Indonesia to the UK. The standard routing is via Singapore (Changi) on Singapore Airlines, or via Dubai on Emirates SkyCargo. Both are experienced cargo hubs for live animal transport with climate-controlled facilities.
The Singapore routing is typically shorter total journey time and SIN has well-established live animal handling. The Dubai routing via Emirates adds a different connection option. Either way, confirm that live animal cargo is accepted on your specific connecting flights, as not every scheduled service has capacity for live animals.
