SENASICA inspection on departure day
At Mexico City (MEX), Guadalajara (GDL), Monterrey (MTY), and other major international airports, SENASICA operates OISA inspection offices. On the day of travel, a SENASICA officer inspects the pet, reviews the zoosanitary certificate, and clears the export.
The SENASICA certificate documents the rabies vaccination, parasite treatment, microchip number, and health status. It is a physical document, not an online submission. Have it and all supporting vet records ready as a set at the airport.
Why KLM via Amsterdam works well for this route
KLM operates direct flights from Mexico City to Amsterdam, and the AMS-CPH route is a well-served KLM domestic European connection. KLM Cargo has an established live animal handling programme, and the Amsterdam hub has animal welfare facilities for pets in transit.
For a Mexico to Denmark move, the total transit time via Amsterdam is typically 12 to 15 hours. This is within the welfare window for most dogs and cats in well-ventilated IATA crates. If your pet is travelling in very hot or cold conditions at either end, check the airline’s temperature embargoes, which can affect cargo acceptance.
