Morocco is classified as an unlisted country for UK pet travel. That means the process is significantly longer than for pets coming from EU or listed countries. The 90-day wait after a successful rabies titre test is the defining constraint: combined with the …

What this route typically costs
Critical points
Morocco is an unlisted country for UK pet travel. The 90-day wait after a successful titre test is mandatory and cannot be reduced. Start the process at least 5 to 6 months before your planned travel date.
The microchip must be implanted BEFORE the rabies vaccination. If vaccinated before chipping, the entire vaccination sequence is invalid. This is the most common and costly mistake on this route.
Ensure your laboratory is on the APHA-approved list before sending the blood sample. Results from unapproved labs are not accepted.
Morocco to UK has direct flights, but check that your airline and route are on the UK's approved routes list for pet entry. Not all routes are approved. Confirm before booking.
Approved carriers for this route
Not all airlines accept live animals. We book only with carriers that handle live animal cargo correctly.
Why Morocco is unlisted and what that means for your pet
The UK’s pet travel scheme classifies countries as Part 1 listed (straightforward process), Part 2 listed (more requirements), or unlisted. Morocco falls into the unlisted category, which triggers the rabies titre test requirement and the mandatory 90-day waiting period that follows.
The logic is straightforward: unlisted countries have not met the criteria the UK uses to determine that dog rabies is controlled to an acceptable level. Morocco does have rabies in its wildlife and dog population, which is why it sits in this category.
For your pet, this means a longer preparation timeline but not an impossible one. Thousands of pets travel from unlisted countries to the UK every year. You simply need to start earlier and plan more carefully.
The sequence that cannot be rushed
Step one is always the microchip. It must go in before the vaccination. If a vet vaccinates your dog and then chips it afterwards, the vaccination does not count under UK rules. This is one of those requirements where the order genuinely matters.
Once the chip is in and the vaccination is administered, you must wait at least 30 days before the titre test blood is drawn. The blood goes to an APHA-approved laboratory (your vet in Morocco should know which labs are accepted, or you can check the APHA website). The laboratory processes the sample and issues a result. If the result is 0.5 IU/ml or above, the clock starts: 90 days from that date before your pet can enter Great Britain.
Nothing speeds up the 90-day window. You cannot pay for a faster approval or use a different lab to bypass it. The process is what it is. Start it early.
Airlines and approved routes from Morocco to the UK
Royal Air Maroc and British Airways both operate direct services from Casablanca (CMN) to London Heathrow (LHR). Both have cargo programmes that carry pets, though availability varies by season and breed.
One critical point: not every route is an approved route for pet entry into Great Britain. The UK specifies which departure airports, carriers, and arrival ports are approved. Heathrow is the main approved UK airport for pet arrivals from most countries. Check GOV.UK approved routes before booking.
Summer heat in Morocco (June to September) can affect cargo pet acceptance on morning departures from Casablanca. This is worth monitoring, but Casablanca’s Atlantic coast climate is typically more moderate than Marrakech or inland cities.
