Pet Transport from Myanmar to the United Kingdom: 2026 Guide
Myanmar is classified as an unlisted country for UK pet travel. The process requires a FAVN rabies titre test and a mandatory 90-day wait from a successful result. Combined with the vaccination and testing timelines, you need to start at least six months …

Every step must be completed in sequence. A single missed deadline can add months to your timeline. We own the entire process.

What this route typically costs
Critical points
Myanmar's political and administrative situation since 2021 has changed some logistics. Verify current veterinary export procedures with a local specialist agent or the British Embassy in Yangon before starting the process.
The 90-day wait after a successful titre test cannot be shortened. Start the microchipping and vaccination sequence as early as possible, ideally 6-8 months before your planned travel date.
Microchip before vaccination. If your vet vaccinates first and microchips second, the vaccination does not count and you must restart.
Air connectivity from Yangon may be limited depending on the political situation. Confirm current airline routes before booking cargo space.
Approved carriers for this route
Not all airlines accept live animals. We book only with carriers that handle live animal cargo correctly.
Myanmar's current logistics situation and what it means for pet transport
Since the military coup in February 2021, Myanmar’s administrative systems have changed. Some official processes have been disrupted or restructured. For pet export, this means you should not rely on pre-2021 guidance about which government body issues export documentation or which officials are authorised.
Before starting the process, contact a pet transport specialist with current Myanmar experience, or reach out to the British Embassy in Yangon for referrals to reliable veterinary contacts. Getting the right vet and the right export process from the start saves significant delays later.
Once you have established the correct process for Myanmar, the UK-side requirements are the same as for any unlisted country: microchip, vaccination, FAVN titre test, 90-day wait, AHC.
The unlisted country process and why timing matters
The FAVN titre test and 90-day wait are the defining features of moving a pet from an unlisted country to the UK. Here is the sequence:
Microchip first (must be in before any vaccination). Rabies vaccination administered by an authorised vet. Wait 30 days, then draw blood for the FAVN test. Ship the blood to an APHA-approved laboratory (in Europe, North America, or Australia). Wait for the result (2-4 weeks). If the result passes (0.5 IU/ml or above), the 90-day wait begins on the date of the successful test.
Only after that 90-day period expires can your pet travel to Great Britain. The AHC is then issued within 10 days of your travel date, the tapeworm treatment administered for dogs in the correct window, and travel begins.
On the shortest possible timeline (everything goes right first time), this is approximately 5.5 to 6 months. Allow more.
Airlines from Yangon to London
Air connectivity from Yangon (Yangon International Airport, RGN) has contracted since 2021. Some international routes that previously operated have been suspended or reduced. Before committing to a travel date, verify which international carriers are currently operating from Yangon and whether they accept cargo pets.
Routing via Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi, BKK) or Singapore (Changi, SIN) is the most common approach. Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines both connect Yangon to their hubs, and both have established live animal cargo programmes from Bangkok and Singapore respectively. Qatar Airways via Doha is another option.
Given the current uncertainty around Yangon connectivity, having a contingency routing plan (for example, if the direct Bangkok connection is not available, routing via Singapore) is wise.
