What does Canada require for pets arriving from Norway?
For personal pets over three months of age, Canada requires a valid rabies vaccination certificate in English or French under the Health of Animals Regulations (SOR/91-525). The certificate must identify the animal (breed, colour, weight, microchip where applicable), be signed by a licensed vet, and state the vaccine’s validity period.
No titre test, quarantine, or import permit is required. The CFIA does not require a formal export health certificate from Mattilsynet (the Norwegian Food Safety Authority) for personal pets bound for Canada. Source: CFIA, inspection.canada.ca (2026).

How do I route my pet from Norway to Canada?
No direct Norway-to-Canada flight exists on most carriers. The most practical options are SAS via Copenhagen, then onward to Toronto or Montreal via Air Canada or other transatlantic partners; or Lufthansa via Frankfurt to Canadian destinations.
Small pets may travel in the cabin on Scandinavian routes. Larger pets travel as cargo, which requires reservation on each leg. Confirm the full cargo arrangement with your agent well in advance of travel.
