Pet Transport from Philippines to Netherlands
Regulations sourced from DEFRA, USDA APHIS, DAFF and other official authorities. How we source our data →
Amsterdam Schiphol is one of Europe’s best-equipped pet import airports, and KLM operates direct Manila to Amsterdam flights – which makes the Netherlands one of the more practical EU destinations for pet owners moving from the Philippines. The flight routing is as good as it gets on this corridor.
The regulatory side is another matter. The Philippines is a non-listed country under EU Regulation 576/2013. A rabies titre test and a 3-month waiting period are mandatory. There is no way around this.
Start preparations at least 22 weeks before your intended travel date.

Why Amsterdam works well for this route
KLM’s direct MNL-AMS service is the single biggest practical advantage of the Philippines to Netherlands route. Most Manila-to-Europe pet cargo moves require at least one transfer – Frankfurt, Dubai, Doha – each of which adds complexity and potential handling risk.
The direct routing removes those variables. Your pet stays on one aircraft from Manila to Amsterdam. KLM Cargo’s Live Animals division handles pet cargo professionally, and Schiphol’s NVWA inspection desk at the BCP is well-staffed.
This does not mean the route is simple. The EU documentation requirements are identical to any other EU destination. But the logistics side is cleaner than most.
Meeting EU non-listed country requirements
The sequence is fixed: microchip first, then vaccinate, then titre test at 30 days post-vaccination, then 3-month wait. Doing any of these steps out of order means restarting. This is the part where preparation time gets lost.
The FAVN titre test must be conducted at a laboratory approved by the EU. Your regular vet may not have access to one. Ask in advance, or use a pet transport agent who knows which Philippine labs are EU-approved for FAVN testing.
The health certificate is in the EU Annex IV format. BAI must endorse it. The certificate is only valid for 10 days from the issue date, so the appointment with your official vet needs to be in the week before travel. Book the BAI endorsement slot at the same time.
